A Texas House Committee will take up a bill that would ban smoking in the workplace and most indoor public places on Wednesday.

Those in favor of the bill said the legislation would save the state more than $400 million in medical cost.

Opponents said a smoking ban would mean too much government interference into Texans' lives.

A senate committee heard the bill Tuesday, but did not take a vote.
