HB824 - (restaurants, bars & preemption repeal) - An Act further prohibiting smoking in public places; providing for local ordinances - Session Adjourned
This bill makes several amendments to the current smokefree air law. The bill removes the exemptions for truck stops, residential facilities, private clubs, fundraisers, tobacco sampling events, drinking establishments, and gaming establishments. The exemptions are kept for cigar bars and retail tobacco shops. Additionally, the bill would repeal preemption and restore local control.
EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in private residences and vehicles except when used as child/adult care facilities; 25% of hotel/motel rooms; cigar bars; tobacco shops; tobacco manufacturer/wholesaler; and designated areas in outdoor theaters/recreational facilities.
