Oppose attempts to take away local control!

There have been a couple of recent attempts to insert language into bills that prevent local communities the authority to pass smokefree ordinances. With only 8 days left of Missouri's legislative session, we must make our voices heard that this is unacceptable.

Please call your State Senator & Representative ASAP and ask them for their commitment to protect local control using these talking points:

  • I oppose any language that authorizes smoking permits to be given to public workplaces in our local communities. This unfairly removes the control of local governments to regulate smokefree ordinances.
  • Smokefree ordinances passed in local communities provide protection from the health dangers of secondhand smoke, are easy to enforce, and have high compliance rates.
  • Please support local communities and their decision-making on smokefree air!

Remember to thank the legislators/staffers for their attention to this very important public health matter. Your action is of vital importance. Click here to let us know you called or emailed your Senator and Representative. Thank you!
