Legislative Summary

AB571 - (bar and restaurant roll-back) - An Act relating to smoking - Signed by Governor on 6/17

This bill severely weakens the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act by expands the existing exemption for free-standing bars to also exempt age-restricted free-standing bars and changes the definition of both of these types of bars to say that food service doesn't have to be incidental to alcohol, so effectively restaurants with liquor licenses can be exempt. The bill was amended to stat that smoking may be permitted in enclosed, ventilated areas within stand-alone bars, taverns and saloons in which patrons under 21 years of age are prohibited from entering.
