This amendment (Crownover) to a fiscal matters bill prohibits smoking in restaurants and bars. Smoking is still permitted in non-hospitality workplaces, tobacco bars, tobacco shops, outdoor area of restaurants & bars, non-publically-accessible porch or patio, theater production sets, and a convention of tobacco-related businesses. A second amendment (Elkins) was adopted to exempt fraternal and veterans clubs, and charitable bingo in rural counties. A third amendment was adopted (Aliseda) to exempt billiard halls with more than 10 billiard tables and do not admit people under age 21. A fourth amendment (Laudenburg) was added to prohibit smoking in the State Capitol.
