Help protect Utah's smokefree air law!

Publication Date: 2012-02-24

Please speak up to help keep Utah’s strong smokefree law intact!

The Utah legislature is considering a bill, HB 245, which would weaken Utah’s smokefree air law by permitting several exemptions for certain tobacco products and businesses. It’s important for you to speak up this weekend, because the bill will be heard on Monday morning by the Senate Work Force Services, Community and Economic Development Committee.

Utah’s smokefree air law for workplaces and public places is working well and is protecting everyone’s right to breathe safe, smokefree air.
These important public health protections should not be weakened by exempting certain businesses that sell or promote the use of hookahs and e-cigarettes.

Secondhand smoke is an equal-opportunity health hazard, and no employees should have to go back to breathing harmful air on the job.
