SB195 - (workplaces, restaurants) - An Act to establish the Alabama Smoke-free Air Act of 2013 - Session Adjourned
This bill prohibits smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in enclosed workplaces and public places, including restaurants, bars, gaming facilities, and hotels/motels, and within 15’ of windows/entrances of places required to be smokefree, restaurant and bar patios, and other specified venues. The bill does not cover existing private clubs, tobacco manufacturers/wholesalers/distributors, cigar bars, or retail tobacco shop. An amendment was added in the health committee to exempt bars, bingo, and gaming facilities.
EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in bars; bingo and gaming facilities; private residences unless used as for child/adult/health care facility; outdoor places of employment; existing private clubs; tobacco manufacturers/wholesalers/distributors; cigar bars; retail tobacco shop.
