Legislative Summary

SB306 - (tobacco retail stores) - A bill concerning alcohol and tobacco - Passed the Senate and sent to the House - Session Adjourned

This bill amends the language that allows smoking in retail tobacco stores and cigar stores, seemingly to allow more flexibility for food and beverage consumption. The law currently states that retail tobacco stores and cigar stores are exempt if, among other requirements, "Food or beverages are not sold for consumption on the premises, and there is not an area set aside for customers to consume food or beverages on the premises." The bill would change that language to instead say "Food or beverages are not sold in a manner that requires consumption on the premises..."
