Legislative Summary

SB5x - (e-cigarette use) - An act relating to electronic cigarettes - Signed by Governor

This bill would define tobacco products as including electronic cigarettes, and prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes in the same places where smoking is prohibited. The bill would also require retailers to obtain a state license to sell these products and require child-resistant packaging for these products. The bill was amended in an Assembly Public Health and Developmental Services Committee this week to add language from the special session bills that close loopholes in the state smokefree air law and from the bills that raise the age for tobacco sales from 18 to 21.
