Legislative Summary

SB295 - (smoking club exemption) - A bill to amend the smoking ban—Session Adjourned

This bill creates an exemption in the voter-enacted Smoke Free Workplace Act to allow smoking in clubs, which are very broadly defined under state law and do not have to be a not-for-profit entity, meaning that bars and other smokefree workplaces may be able to claim that they are clubs. The Ohio definition of club is: "a corporation or association of individuals organized in good faith for social, recreational, benevolent, charitable, fraternal, political, patriotic, or athletic purposes."
