Legislative Summary

LD886-(workplaces)-An Act To Promote Parity in the Laws Governing Smoking in the Workplace-Signed by Governor

This bill amends the state law to strengthen the workplace provisions. The provision exempting private offices with only one employee was repealed, as was the provision allowing workplaces to opt out of the smokefree regulations if agreed upon by all employees & the employer. The only places allowed to opt out are private clubs with employees. The workplace provision is not 100% smokefree because designated smoking areas are still allowed, despite most workplaces not utilizing this option due to the tight restrictions for building them.
