SB19-(workplaces and bars)-Amendments to the Clean Indoor Air Act-Signed by Governor

This bill strengthens the current state law, which makes all restaurants 100% smokefree, to extend the smokefree provisions to workplaces, day-care centers, taverns, and private clubs. Taverns licensed before May 15, 2006 are exempt until January 1, 2009. Class A, B & C Clubs are exempt until January 1, 2007.

Smoking is allowed in hotel/motel rooms; non-public areas of owner-operated businesses where the owner-operator is the only employee; and a separately enclosed, separately ventilated smoking room in the Salt Lake City airport.
