EDITORIAL: Smoking lounge makes airport the butt of jokes

Then, apparently without asking for input from anybody (the 80 percent of the population that doesn't smoke, for instance) members of the airport authority board decided to bring back smoking by adding a smoking lounge.

But the ventilation system, it seems, doesn't work. And so now, the first impression passengers get when they walk into the area's $45 million "front door" is stale cigarette smoke. Welcome to Traverse City...

And the smoking lounge should be allowed to go the way of the Marlboro Man and Joe Camel - gone and, hopefully, forgotten.
