Nearly one third of Americans now live in cities and states where smoking is prohibited in restaurants and bars, saving the lives and health of countless service workers.

States that ban smoking include California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts and New York. Countries where smoking is banned in public places include Ireland and Scotland. Much of Europe and Canada is moving toward requiring smoke-free restaurants and bars.
