Gov. Jim Doyle has ordered all state buildings to go smoke free and called on legislators to pass a law requiring the same thing for local government buildings.

Cabinet secretaries have 30 days to make all state buildings completely smoke free under an executive order Doyle signed Friday. No legislative action is required for the order to take effect.

Current law bans smoking inside state buildings except for designated areas.
