Area state legislators have mixed opinions on a bill introduced this session that would permit smoking in certain bars and restaurants, provided those establishments follow strict guidelines. State Rep. Leonard Greene, R-105, who serves Ansonia, Beacon Falls and Seymour, introduced a bill that would scale back the state's smoking ban that took effect in restaurants October 2003 and bars April 2004...

State Rep. Toni Boucher, R-143, who serves Wilton and Norwalk doubts Greene's bill will get to the floor. Boucher, who lost three relatives to the effects of smoking, suggested leaving the ban alone. "By in large, businesses in my area and my district seem to be very supportive of it," she said.
