Smoking would be prohibited in most indoor locations, including workplaces and restaurants, under a bill approved by the House on Wednesday.

The measure, which heads to the Senate, will allow smoking in a private residence, certain bars, private clubs, casinos, smoking-designated hotel and motel rooms and designated outdoor smoking areas.

Under the bill, bars that receive more than half their income from selling alcohol could continue to allow smoking even if they also serve food.
