I have filed HB 76, a bill to be entitled "An Act to Amend the Law Concerning Smoking in Public Places and to Prohibit Smoking in Restaurants." Short title: "Ban Smoking in Restaurants."

It is time for North Carolina to pass a law protecting non-smokers from secondhand smoke...

I applaud FirstHealth of the Carolinas' Community Health Services department for partnering with the local Teens Against Tobacco Use groups for providing the advocacy training and working with these young people. We need to recognize our teenagers when we see the positive impact they are making in our communities.

Please give them your time when they call on you. They are working for our children, their children and all of us. I will be working here in Raleigh to help move this legislation and I am hopeful HB 76 will pass this session.
