A group of Louisville business leaders say a ban on smoking in public places would help the city attract good job candidates and improve the city's national image.

"We're in Kentucky, and a lot of the country is prepared to believe we're backward to begin with," said David Jones Jr., vice chairman of Humana Inc.

Jones and the other business leaders gave the Metro Council on Wednesday a different perspective on a Louisville smoking ban, which many business people, including bar owners, have opposed.
