Democrat Dan Grossman's proposal, expected to be introduced in the Senate this week, would prohibit lighting up in any business with four or more employees.

Sen. Dan Grossman, D-Denver, told about 50 people gathered on the west steps of the Capitol on Wednesday that he was introducing a bill that would prohibit smoking in any business with four or more employees.

"There is no more important issue for the legislature or any policy body to address than the public health," Grossman said.

His bill - the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act - would create a klatch of sidewalk smokers across the state by banning indoor smoking in restaurants, bars and office buildings.

Also, smoking would be banned in casinos, bowling alleys and pool halls - any place of business with four or more workers.
