Local business owners and Douglas County officials are concerned about a proposed statewide smoking ban announced by legislators last week.

Three Democrats and a Republican proposed legislation to ban smoking in public indoor places, including bars and restaurants. State Sens. Dan Grossman, D-Denver, and Jim Isgar, D-Hesperus, teamed up with State Reps. Gary Lindstrom, D-Breckenridge, and Mark Larson, R-Cortez, for the "Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act." John DeLay, owner of Pegasus On the Square restaurant in Castle Rock for 16 years and in the restaurant business 29 years, said he and wife Janie made the decision in early 2003 their establishment would be smoke-free.
