EDITORIAL: Gov.: Dons health go up in smoke

In a recent Associated Press interview, Gov. Sonny Perdue said he does not know if he will sign the General Assembly’s bill prohibiting smoking from most public buildings. . . .

If Perdue is still uncertain of the effectiveness of a statewide smoking bill, we urge him to review the successes of Georgia cities and counties which have already implemented similar ordinances. We challenge him to visit Valdosta specifically to measure the success of the smoking ban here. We urge him to sign this bill into law.

Don’t let the legislators’ hard work and the state’s health go up in smoke.
