Statewide smoking ban is goal of officials

Members of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department met Wednesday with representatives from 50 other county departments across Ohio in an effort to implement a statewide smoking ban.

The event, sponsored by the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners, was held as a kickoff for the organization's petition drive to get the initiative on November's ballot.

AHOC Executive Director Beth Bickford said the push to make Ohio 100 percent smoke-free originated from the grassroots level.
