Smoking would be prohibited in child care centers and video arcades in Nevada under a bill passed unanimously Monday by the state Senate.

AB118, sponsored chiefly by Assemblywoman Kathy McClain, D-Las Vegas, removes the authority of someone running a child care facility that serves five or more children to designate a smoking area. It also prohibits smoking in arcades that have 10 or more machines.

The bill now goes to Gov. Kenny Guinn for his signature.
