Madison bar owners looking for an end to the smoking ban are turning to Governor Doyle, but they're not likely to find help there.

Dave Wiganowsky owns Wiggies on Madison's northside. He says he spoke with the Governor about a Republican bill that would create a statewide smoking policy that would allow smoking in bars.

Wiganowsky says if the Madison Common Council won't overturn its ban, he hopes the Governor will sign the Republican bill into law and end the ban that way. He says the Governor asked him to come up with a compelling reason for him to support the bill...

A spokesperson for Governor Doyle says he will veto the Republican bill because it would weaken smoking regulations across the state...
