Gov. Taft: Vote for smoke-free Ohio

Publication Date: 2006-10-30
  • Author:Governor Bob Taft

Yes on Issue 5 and no on Issue 4

Issue 5, known as SmokeFreeOhio, would make public places smoke-free and protect all workers, families, children and seniors from the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Issue 4, on the other hand, is a devious smokescreen. Passing the Smoke Less Ohio initiative would result in a changed Ohio Constitution, making it impossible for municipalities to pass life-saving clean indoor air ordinances in the future and repealing those already in place. And it would allow smoking almost everywhere.
