Smoking with kids in the car may be outlawed in New Jersey.

State Senator Raymond Lesniak plans to propose legislation Monday that would ban people from smoking in a vehicle in which anyone under 16 is riding.

The bill dovetails with a movement nationally to limit children's exposure to secondhand smoke.

If approved by both houses of the Legislature and signed into law by the governor, it would make smoking in a car with a minor a disorderly persons offense.
