Banning smoking in bars and restaurants isn't just for California anymore. Even some traditional tobacco states are following suit, and Tennessee may be next.

State lawmakers will consider two statewide smoking bans — one for restaurants and one for all workplaces including bars and restaurants — in coming months.

Many Nashville restaurateurs see the way the smoke-free wind is blowing and are kicking butts out of their eateries on their own.

A ban is just fine by longtime smoker and east Nashville resident Jeff Peterson, who said he rarely smokes indoors anyway.
