SB500 - (workplaces, restaurants, and bars) - Smoke Free Illinois Act - Signed by Governor

This bill prohibits smoking in all enclosed public places, places of employment, and governmental vehicles, and within 15 feet of any entrance to a public place or place of employment. Restaurants, bars and gaming facilities are all included. Smoking is also prohibited in student dormitories of any public or private university.

EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in private residences, except when used as a licensed childcare/adult day care /healthcare facility or home-based business of any kind open to the public; retail tobacco stores; private and semi-private rooms in nursing homes and long-term care facilities; and 25% of contiguous hotel/motel rooms.
