To Pass Smokefree Ordinances

Legislative Summary

SB42 - (restaurants and bars) - An Act prohibiting smoking in restaurants, cocktail lounges, and certain enclosed public places - Signed by Governor

This bill amends the current state law to make restaurants and bass smokefree by removing the exemptions for restaurants and cocktail lounges, defined as bar areas of restaurants. Smoking is prohibited in private clubs only when open to the public. Enclosed smoking areas are still allowed in workplaces, but workplaces must be smokefree if smoke cannot be "effectively segregated" in the smoking areas.
