The state House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on a bill Wednesday that would ban smoking in most public places across North Carolina.

Davidson County Representative Hugh Holliman sponsored the bill, which would ban smoking statewide in restaurants, hotels and state government buildings.

Restaurants and bars with age restrictions and smoking-designated hotel rooms are excluded.

Holliman said the bill, which was delayed from Tuesday, has a good chance of passing and heading to the Senate.
