Nearly three-quarters of Kansas voters responding to a recent poll said they would favor a state law or local ordinances prohibiting smoking indoors, including in bars and restaurants...

The poll's results come as national and international groups are calling for no-smoking laws and as a Kansas ban recently was challenged and upheld.

Seventy-one percent of the poll's respondents said they would favor a law making indoor workplaces and public facilities smoke-free. The definition for indoor workplaces included bars and restaurants...

When asked about local smoke-free ordinances, 73 percent of all respondents said they would favor one in their community. And 83 percent said they believed secondhand smoke is a serious health hazard.
