NC Senate bans care-home smoking

Residents of nursing homes, adult-care homes, and other long-term-care homes could soon be prohibited from smoking anywhere inside those facilities.

The N.C. Senate approved a bill yesterday that will ban smoking in state-licensed buildings that provide long-term-care services. The bill was prompted by a fatal fire at a Mocksville adult-care home that was caused by a resident smoking in her room.
