SB1875 - (smoking rooms in restaurants; preemption repeal) - Session Adjourned
This bill amends the current smokefree law, which allows smoking rooms in restaurants and some other locations, to remove the provisions allowing smoking rooms. All indoor public places would be required to be smokefree. However, ventilated smoking rooms are allowed in restaurants until March 1, 2013, with the stipulation that no new or existing restaurant shall add a designated smoking room after July 1, 2008. EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in private residences except during the hours when used as a child care facility; medical research or treatment centers; outdoor seating areas of restaurants except within 15’ of doorways; and ventilated smoking rooms in restaurants and nursing homes. This bill also removes preemption.
