SB347 - (smokefree city) - A bill relating to smoking ban in restaurants in certain localities - Defeated in Senate ABC/Gaming Subcommittee

This bill amends the current state law to prohibit smoking in any restaurant, bar, or lounge area in the City of Chesapeake, including outdoor areas in which food or drinks are served. A substitute bill was adopted in the Senate Education and Health Committee, which allows any community in Planning District 23 to enact a law addressing smoking in restaurants. Planning District 23 includes Chesapeake, Franklin, Hampton, Newport News , Norfolk, Poquoson , Portsmouth , Suffolk , Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Isle of Wight County , James City County, Southampton County, York County , Gloucester County , and Surry County.
