In the end, Rep. Tyler Olson thinks more lawmakers are going to want to vote for some kind of a statewide smoking ban this year than not.

The Cedar Rapids Democrat will be leading the Iowa House members in conference committee deliberations with senators in an effort to reach a compromise on their dueling versions of a proposed statewide smoking ban.

A conference committee of six Democrats and four Republicans is expected to meet in a conference committee later today.

The chambers are at an impasse on the smoking ban with the House allowing smoking in casinos, restaurants and bars. The Senate would allow no exemptions.
