Smoking Ban Passes House

A bill prohibiting people from smoking inside vehicles when children are present passed in the state House Thursday morning.

The 54-33 vote means the measure will head to the state Senate.

The ban specifically bans smoking inside vehicles when a person 16 years or younger is inside.

The bill was not passed in two earlier attempts this session. If the bill had been voted down again Thursday, the measure would have been permanently killed.
