The original bill version would have prohibited smoking in public places and places of employment. The bill was amended in the House to remove the preemptive language in the prior bill version. Extensive exemptions remain for many workplaces, including restaurants and bars.
EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in private homes; family owned and operated businesses; businesses of self-employed individuals not open to the public; 20% hotel/motel rooms; retail tobacco stores; company vehicles occupied by one person; tobacco bar; restaurants and bars with liquor licenses; private clubs; gaming facilities; smoking areas in health facilities.
