This bill would prohibit smoking in public places and places of employment, but bars and bar areas of restaurants are excluded. Smoking is also prohibited within 15 feet of entrances of smokefree buildings. The bill was amended to significantly weaken the bill by exempting bars; bar areas of restaurants; tobacco manufacturers and wholesalers; and nonprofits engaged in activities pursuant to a local constitutional amendment.

EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in bars; bar areas of restaurants; tobacco manufacturers and wholesalers; and nonprofits engaged in activities pursuant to a local constitutional amendment; private residences except when used as child/adult/health care facilities; 20% of hotel/motel rooms; private or semiprivate rooms in a nursing home or long-term care facility occupied exclusively by smokers; private clubs except when open to the public; outdoor places of employment; tobacco retail stores; and cigar bars.
