Wisconsin smoking ban still in proposed budget

A statewide workplace smoking ban and domestic partner benefits for same-sex couples will remain in the state budget proposal the Legislature is considering--at least for now.

Co-chairs of the Legislature's budget committee released a list of items they were removing from the proposal because they weren't directly related to the state budget and dealt primarily with policy issues.

The Legislature will now have to pass those 45 items separately for them to become law.
