This bill prohibits smoking in public places and enclosed areas places of employment, as well as in certain state vehicles, and within 12 feet of entrances public places and places of employment. No definitions are provided and no exemptions are listed, so the bill presumably would cover all enclosed workplaces including restaurants and bars. This bill was amended by the Committee on Public Health to exempt gaming facilities including horse racing, riverboats, and satellite facilities, plus retail tobacco shops.The bill was further amended by the House to exempt bars and taverns, as well as nursing homes and veterans' private clubs.
