This bill amends the smokefree law to repeal preemption and restore local control to local communities to adopt smokefree policies. The House adopted two amendments on March 1. One amendment retains preemption for private dining and social clubs. The other amendment permits communities to pass laws that are weaker than state law, which would allow communities to opt out of following any of the state’s smokefree requirements.
