Legislative Summary

HB5332 - (narrows tobacco bar exemption) - An Act Concerning Smoking in Public Buildings and the Exemption for Tobacco Bars - Session Adjourned

This bill narrows the current exemption for tobacco bars. In current law, tobacco bars must hold an alcohol license and generate at least 10% sales from tobacco products. This bill changes the definition by requiring that tobacco bars’ income from sales of alcohol (if any) not exceed income from sales of tobacco products. Tobacco bars must have been in existence as of 12/31/2002.
