This bill takes a very minor step at giving local control to municipalities so that they can prohibit smoking on the grounds of municipal property. HB1657 was amended to allow cities with a population of 156,800 people and counties with more than 500,000 people to adopt local laws to prohibit smoking on the grounds of municipal swimming pools and in amphitheaters with more than 6,000 seats.
