What can hurt not only individuals but communities and the environment? Cigarettes. The issue of secondhand smoke within the Indianapolis metropolitan area has certainly garnered significant media attention and public awareness in recent years.

While there was a citywide smoking ban implemented in 2012 within certain public areas, there is still room for improvement. Organizations such as Smoke Free Indy have worked with legislators, other organizations and local businesses to ensure that proposed bans and legislation are enforced effectively. However, there is still plenty of work to be done regarding secondhand smoking and its detrimental health effects on the community...
