Speak up to protect smokefree air in New Hampshire!

Publication Date: 2017-01-12

The New Hampshire legislature is considering a bill that would roll back the statewide smokefree air law to allow smoking in restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and some public transportation. That’s outrageous!

In 2017, New Hampshire celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the smokefree law. Instead of honoring this hard won public health accomplishment that was achieved by people like you, this bill would repeal the majority of the law.

Your legislators need to hear from you!

Please contact the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee to tell them that you oppose House Bill 279. You can send an email to HouseCommerceCommittee@leg.state.nh.us or you can call 271-3369. The bill had a public hearing in this committee yesterday, and has a subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, January 18, so it’s very important that the committee hears from you this week.

Tell the Committee to keep restaurants and bars smokefree. Remind them that New Hampshire workers deserve to continue breathing clean air on the job, and that smokefree indoor air saves the lives of real people and improves the health of a state’s workforce. Adding a few words about why the smokefree air law is important to you and your family can be very influential.
