Legislative Summary

HB1230—(broad marijuana exemptions)—An Act Concerning Marijuana Hospitality Establishments—Signed by Governor on 5/29

This bill allows communities to permit businesses to have a marijuana hospitality establishment where people can smoke and vape marijuana, which could include numerous types of businesses that are currently required to be smokefree, including restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and book stores. The bill significantly weakens smokefree protections throughout Colorado and formally creates an exemption in the Colorado Clean Indoor Air Act to clarify that marijuana hospitality establishments are exempt from the smokefree requirements of the law.
