HB 1030-An Act relating to smoking restrictions in nonpublic workplaces-Amended and Defeated

This bill prohibits smoking in most indoor workplaces to which the public has access, including restaurants, stores, arenas, coin-operated laundries, sports facilities and hotel lobbies and hallways.

EXEMPTIONS: Bars, religious and fraternal clubs, rooms hired for private functions, motel room, and businesses not normally open for public access - and are not in a publicly owned - must negotiate a smoking policy with employees that either prohibits smoking or restricts it to certain areas. Anti-preemption clause specific to enacting ordinances addressing smoking in the workplace but local governments may not adopt smokefree regulations for tobacco retail stores, livestock auction markets, truck stops, or in or on the grounds of hospitals.
