B16-0294 (ventilation & incentives)-The Smoke Free Restaurant, Tavern and Nightclub Incentive Amendment Act of 2005

This bill requires that restaurants, bars, clubs and hotels register with the city as either a smokefree or smoking establishment. Smoking is allowed in any of these establishments that install ventilation systems and pay for a smoking license that costs four times the price of the normal business license. Businesses that go smokefree will get a 25% tax reduction for two years, but businesses that are already smokefree do not get the tax reduction.
