Anti-tobacco forces who passed a law in 2002 to ban smoking in most public places in South Dakota are asking legislators this year to make the prohibition complete.

A bill introduced in the 2005 Legislature would outlaw smoking in bars, video-lottery establishments and restaurant-lounges that currently are exempt. If the new bill were to pass, about the only places where smoking would be legal are homes and motel and hotel rooms, said Rep. Larry Frost, R-Aberdeen.
